Welcome to STR·EAT, a Mediterranean bistro and whisky bar in the heart of Valletta. Upstairs, our bar and terrace open onto the streets — a relaxed, piazza-style setting for lunch, a drink, a few plates to share or the whole evening, with Mediterranean dishes, Maltese-inspired cocktails and a wide list of drinks. Downstairs, beneath the historic vaulted ceilings, it becomes more intimate: the bistro and the whisky bar, with carefully chosen dishes, an extensive whisky collection and cocktails for taking the evening a little further. We’ve been part of Valletta’s food and drink scene since 2013.

The Bistro
Under the vaults
The warmest room in the building, tucked beneath Valletta’s historic stone vaults. A cosy setting for a relaxed lunch, an evening drink, dinner or a whisky shared late into the night. Our kitchen is open daily from 12:00 to 23:00, serving across STR·EAT throughout the day. Come down, settle in and stay for a while.
Before five, come in through the terrace door on Old Theatre Street.

The Whisky Bar
Sit with the list
Downstairs too, next door to the bistro. This is where the single malts live, and the room to take if you want to spend an evening working through them properly rather than ordering once and leaving. Walk in.
The Whisky Terrace
Step outside onto Strait Street, where the Whisky Bar spills into the lively streets of Valletta. Bright lights, outdoor tables and the energy of the city create an easygoing setting for a whisky, a cocktail or a drink with friends. It’s the perfect place to settle in, watch the street come alive and enjoy the atmosphere before heading back beneath the vaults. If the weather turns, we move you inside.

Upstairs, serving the terrace. Cocktails, wine and beer — and from three until seven, every day, any two for €8.50. Walk in.

Settle in with a view of St George’s Square, surrounded by the energy and character of Valletta. Our spacious outdoor seating is made for long lunches, afternoon drinks and easy evenings under the city lights. With plenty of room to sit back and enjoy the scenery, it’s a relaxed spot to enjoy Mediterranean food, cocktails and drinks from noon every day. Walk in, find a table and stay as long as you like.

Our kitchen brings a Mediterranean approach to the table, with dishes inspired by the flavours, ingredients and traditions of the region, alongside a touch of Maltese character. From fresh salads and seafood to pasta, grilled meats and comforting favourites, the menu is designed for easy lunches, relaxed dinners and sharing with friends. Simple, generous and full of flavour — Mediterranean food made for the way we like to eat.

Come in from either street.
STR·EAT has two entrances, on opposite sides of the building. Our Old Theatre Street entrance, with the gold lettering, leads directly to the upstairs bar and outdoor seating. The Strait Street entrance, marked by our black door, takes you downstairs to the bistro and Whisky Bar. Two entrances, different atmospheres, one STR·EAT.
